Sunday 7 July 2013 – Lerwick to Fair Isle


The Fair Isle Bird Observatory is quite open to visitors joining in their activities and booking meals. We did not have meals there but did attend the ringing of Storm Petrels.  They rigged up a net after dark and attracted the birds by playing the sound of a colony.  Young birds seem to be attracted by the sound of the colony – we watched several being ringed
