After being stuck somewhere for a while there is a bit of a psychological barrier to overcome to leave, especially if the weather is still less than ideal. We decided to go to Eigg in the afternoon, weather permitting, so we went ashore and settled the bill and eventually set off with 2 reefs in. Just getting going and finding our way down the winding channel to the sea seemed more stressful than it should have been. SW F4 soon increased to F5 as we picked up the previously familiar landmarks – The Sgurr of Eigg, Ardnamurchan Point and the Point of Sleat. The island of Rum and the Cuillin mountains on Skye were completely hidden by mist and cloud. We anchored in the inner harbour and felt more tired than normal for a 10 mile sail. Fortunately Pam had brought scones from Arisaig, so we had a civilised tea.
Tomorrow we will clean the bottom of the boat and take a look round the island.
