Our first early start of the trip. We eventually left at 5:30, with the weather seeming greyer, colder and windier than we expected. Caught the last of the ebb tide from the Sound of Hoy, then went North up the coast, pausing after a while to put in the second reef. After that we continued to make fast progress, but felt a bit more relaxed. We eventually passed to the N of Westray and also Papa Westray (rather than passing through the shallow sound between the islands). Moored at Pierrowall, which although a bit open in some wind directions, is a good place to stop. Harbour-master Tom and Marina man Gary looked after us well.
